Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere. If you like trips by water, it is a good place to visit but a bit lacking in things to do apart from that. There is a good bus service to Kendal or Keswick but leave the car and use public transport. You can go to Ambleside by boat or bus but the town is packed during the summer season.

The view from the window, presentation of the property, decor of the room, bottle of water on arrival. Closeness of township.
The staircase was a challenge and heating could have been better controlled.

The location was just perfect.
The location was just perfect. It was central for us to adventure out and explore the Lake District. It was also an exciting location for relaxation in the evenings. Lots of fine restaurants and pubs to choose from with a lovely holiday atmosphere abounding everywhere.
Regretfully the car ferry was out of order and not available to us. That was a bit of a nuisance as our touring plans had envisaged that being available. None the less we had a fabulous holiday and were not overly put-out by the loss.

It is so easy going in Bowness we try to come here as often as we can. There’s something to do for everyone young and old. We have a dog now and he’s so relaxed here many places are dog friendly. Bars and restaurants brilliant especially Italians on the Main Street. Our favourite place can’t wait to come back

I liked the Beatrix Potter museum, Holehird Gardens, and Stagshaw gardens, Hayes garden centre up in Ambleside. Booked an amazing day trip with Mountain Goat tours that took us around ten Lakes of the Lake District with our amazing guide Mark Shipley. the restaurants I went to was Francine's up in Windermere, Urban Food House (superb) and the Magic Roundabout. I was within walking distance of everything in Bowness. I probably would avoid booking in the school holidays, was very busy everywhere. the weather was very changeable but it is the wettest area of Great Britain.

Always wanted to try the Belsfield hotel. Booking in was a breeze, lovely room, super comfy beds & bathroom.
The weather in the evening was atrocious, so we dined in. The food was delicious at dinner & breakfast (except for the toaster)!
The only issue we had was the antiquated lift- which doesn't work if someone doesn't shut the door properly on another floor to you. When you are disabled & have difficulty walking, it is no joke to have to carry cases downstairs!
Hsving said that, we very much wenjoyed our stay.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Westbourne, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better – it was so close to both the lake and the town, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. There was a bus stop as well right outside the hotel. The manager was so friendly and took the time to provide us with valuable recommendations for places to visit in the area. There was free parking available at the hotel as well.
Your hotel was a perfect location for seeing all the sights of Bowness. We enjoyed your wonderful breakfasts and the friendliness of your staff. Our highlight of our stay was that you gave me a picture off your upstairs landing wall. I had mentioned to my daughter that I wondered if you would sell it to me. I couldn't believe it when I was presented with it at breakfast. Thank you so much. I see it daily and it is now a constant reminder of our stay with you. Thank you again.
This is an exceptional bed and breakfast hotel in the heart of Bowness. Close to all the pubs, restaurants, shops and the lakeside, though up a short steep hill!! The bedroom (room 4) was very spacious and clean with a superb bath and shower. Nick the host also provides a few welcome added touches such as homemade cakes, bottles of water and fresh milk. There was a choice of cooked full English or Vegetarian breakfasts, plus bread, cereals and yoghurts.
Location was excellent, easily accessible to both Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. The hospitality and friendliness shown by Adam and Symoanne were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and their attention to detail was just lovely to see. Accommodation so comfortable, extremely clean and great value for money. Ample free parking and generous continental breakfast included . Would definitely recommend and love to return. ...a great choice!
Excellent location and only a short walk to Bowness on Windermere pier as well as the shops and other eateries if you desire. Friendly and helpful staff -we couldn't fault our break. We booked the Deluxe Bay room and it didn't disappoint. A nice large room with a huge comfortable bed and a lovely big bathroom. Good wi fi and parking right next to our property/room. Breakfast excellent choice and very tasty.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Fellview. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and we had a great night's sleep. Very central location, only a few minutes walk down the road to Bowness on Windermere. Free parking outside the guest house. We would 100% recommend and look forward to staying again soon.
Cannot say enough good things about our stay at Craigholme! Our hosts were wonderful, even upgrading us to the suite room at no extra cost! The room was very comfortable and breakfast was superb. Our host provided us with great suggestions for meals and things to do. If you are in Bowness on Windermere, stay at Craigholme!
The location was spectacular, very quiet yet only minutes walking distance from the lake and shops etc... So much choice for food and entertainment. We chose to eat out rather than have breakfast at the hotel, this was only because we were up and out. We are already thinking of staying again next year! Loved the place.
Attitude and manner of staff was spot on, the level of professionalism and friendliness felt genuine at all times.
Didn't treat the consumables in the room like they're gold plated like most hotels. Enough toilet rolls to last a week, plenty of shower gels soaps etc, and no shortage of tea and coffee Biscuits.
