Though it was my first time for me, we were in Gießen for a yearly festival. We did some driving around in Gießen. The city is very attractive with beautiful shops, clean streets and very friendly people. Gießen is small but very neat and easy to get around city.

Gießen is what it is, we have family there, so it was great to visit. not much else to see if you are wanting or looking for a true German experience although not far away are some very worthwhile sights, particularly Marburg. Dinner at Badeburg is a special treat, highly recommended. The old castle walls provide real atmosphere. Gießen itself s a bit sterile. Schwannenteich is nice but overall, i can't imagine it as a city on any tourists agenda, unless you had a reason to visit.

Frustrating to not be able to have a hot shower on an overnight stay. The air conditioning/temperature control system in my single room did not work either. It was blowing out hot air when switched on even when you were trying to lower the temperature in the room. It was just a wait of time, it was a torture for me and for my companions…. There is no elevator, the blankets were as heavy as lead shields in x ray rooms. The sheets were dirty …. The sink drain stopper was not working properly either. I can’t imagine there are hotels like this in Germany. It was a waste of time and money for me.
