This 15th-century castle dates back to Mary, Queen of Scots, and is set in 40 acres of stunning parkland. Edinburgh city centre is 8 miles from Carberry Tower Mansion House and Estate.

Lovely location - very interesting building if in need a bit of TLC. Nice grounds and garden - which also needed attention. Hotel was a little like a Hollywood film star, who’s star is on the down rather than the up - a little bit tired and faded splendour.
Kat and Amy on reception were extremely helpful with anything we needed.

The room was larger than expected and very clean and modern looking.
On Princes Street, opposite the Scott Monument and National Gallery, Mercure Edinburgh City - Princes Street Hotel has an excellent location, a friendly atmosphere and views of Edinburgh Castle.

I don’t know why the rating is a little bit low for this hotel because to me it’s really good. Our room is very spacious and clean. They also provided amenities. The reception is also very nice too.
Situated in the centre of Edinburgh, the Motel One Edinburgh-Royal is 5 minutes’ walk away from the train station, and only half a mile from the Castle. Guests can reach the historical St.

Just very disappointing, nice looking pictures online but the reality is far removed. Probably ok for 4 lads looking for a place to crash and go into the city but the slightly more discerning amongst you will find this second floor property, complete with ghetto style entrance and stairways rather lacking.

Only ever gone for the horse racing but already looking at a long weekend here as it is only a short hop into Edinburgh and not too far from North Berwick, so good central point.
I still need to see more of the old historic Musselburgh too.

I was born in Musselburgh and come to visit family. However we do activities while here. Musselburgh is a typical Scottish town with the road going through the centre of shops. Like many towns a lot are closed. It is pleasant with the river running through and many places to walk. It is close to the beach which is relatively clean. It is a good based to get into Edinburgh and a bus service which means you don't have to take the car. On the other side is the coast road which takes you to some lovely places. Alao a bit of history there.

The town seems a little run down in places but the racecourse and the harbour looked good. Train links to Edinburgh and the east coast. Close to A1 motorway and Edinburgh bypass. Has a good selection of supermarkets quite close together, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and an Asda just off A1 motorway. Navigation around town fairly easy and driving through also.

Needed transport into Edinburgh.
Needed transport into Edinburgh. Had to ask reception about this although had looked online before hand but obviously not familiar with the area.
Nothing available about this in a folder.
One of the receptionist was new and didn’t know the answer but another did.
Musselburgh was ok on day we visited but just a small town.
Nice walk along The Forth of Firth to Joppa and Porto where you could get a drink/cake or an ice cream.

Gorgeous historical building and grounds.
Gorgeous historical building and grounds.
You can get a bit lost around all the stairs, so be sure to ask for a ground or first floor room if you have needs and/ or like access to outside more.
Room and bathroom was a little too hot and small but better than cold I guess! Just felt a tad claustrophobic in single wee room that was located through quite a lot of passage ways - good for some people but not for others. Just be sure to speak to the hotel about room needs. There was some sort of fan or something going on through the night, not sure if outside or other room.
Hotel was a wonderland and staff are fantastic, kind and courteous.
Due to the things I mention above I feel it was a little over priced. But I guess your paying for the up keep of such a beautiful historical building and its staff.
The grounds and room were absolutely beautiful. Very few hotels get to offer the kind of luxurious atmosphere a castle (I know it's technically an estate house) like this does. It was truly a great experience, and the staff were very friendly as well. I will say we only stayed for one night, so I feel like I didn't get to really soak in the space as well as I would have liked to, but for the time I was there, I felt like I was living in a dream.
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Fa’side castle. It is definitely a unique experience to stay in a building with so much history. The location is excellent as well. It is a quick 20 min drive to the city of Edinburgh. I really enjoyed the hospitality offered by Sue and Ian. The breakfast spread in the room allowed us to start our day exploring the Scottish highlands and Edinburgh on the right note.
It was a great opportunity to stay in a renovated castle, with the use of two floors & the roof top which had excellent views over Edinburgh & Blackness Bay.
The 7ft bed was really comfy & basically we had everything we needed including loads of breakfast & lots of hot water for a relaxing bath after a long day.
Our hosts Iain & Sue were also lovely and made us feel very welcome indeed.
The hotel is in a good location, easy to find and really close to the beach and seafront. It was spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard. I particularly liked the pink neon light in the bathroom! Thank you Ravelston House for your hard work and for making my stay so safe and comfortable. I will be returning with friends and family in the autumn. 😊
The best place in musselburgh to stay in.
Very clean tidy and amazing host. Alice will make sure you’re feeling welcomed and at home.
We took a large room with multiple beds. Amazing view. Great breakfast and very close from shops.
If you like to walk it’s 30 min to the train station or down the street for a bus ride.
This place is a gem! Perfectly arranged rooms, spacious bathrooms, common area was lovely and the restaurant downstairs was great! Staff was incredibly helpful as well. Easy and quick bus ride to Edinburgh and located a block from the water. Highly recommend.
The cottage is twee however I was expecting that, its charming and in keeping with the period of the property. The garden is indeed beautiful and being in time for the tulips was an extra bonus. Great location for exploring Edinburgh and East Lothian.
The room was small, but adequate. The bathroom was lovely the shower was very good. There was no coffee machine as stated in the description. The hotel was quite nicely appointed. Dinner was nice, but expensive. Gluten free options were limited
Lovely house alongside the river which was clean and modern. Great place for a family trip to Edinburgh. We know Edinburgh well as we have lots of family here but have never been to Musselburgh before, we would stay again.
Arden House was an exceptional stay. Placed in a very nice seaside town with great links to Edinburgh. The Hotel owner and her dog treated our stay very well and with a lovely breakfast prepared in the morning
The staff was so helpful and very pleasant all the time. The disabled room was really Accessible. Plenty of parking. The food was so nice. The hotel had really good places to sit and work or relax.
I was in the area birdwatching and the apartment was ideally situated especially for Fisherrow harbour and Musselburgh, but also for other places around the coast such as Aberlady Bay and Gullane.
Very clean bedroom and comfortable bed. The hotel was in a good position and quite near the beach so could have a walk there. The bar an restaurant we’re good and staff friendly. Food good.
The hotel was perfect and met all our expectations. It was close enough to the city and was an easy drive in. Dinner was great in the restaurant and the place had so much character.
The staff were so good, the lovely receptionist when we arrived and the waiter In the bistro were so nice.the communal areas of the hotel and grounds were beautiful.
Excellent out of town location set in lovely grounds with easy access to local park & ride facilities. Plenty of parking and chill out areas. Restaurant good.
